Why prostration differs from falling

In this section, we will be discussing the phenomenon of people falling to the ground as they encounter the power of the Holy Spirit. This phenomenon is not to be confused with the act of the saints prostrating themselves before the Lord during times of worship and prayer. For saints that prostrate themselves before the Lord, do so as an act of their own will as they pay homage to the Lord, and not as a result of encountering the supernatural power of God. And the practice of prostration before the Lord is carried out by many churches, including those that do not acknowledge the power of the Holy Spirit being manifested in the earth today. There are numerous scriptural references for this type of practice, for example, the account of the twenty-four elders in heaven falling down before God’s throne and worshipping Him (Revelation 5:14), the account of the four cherubim in heaven falling down before God and worshipping Him (Revelation 19:4), the account of all the angels of God falling on their faces and worshiping Him (Revelation 7:11), the account of Abraham bowing himself on the ground when the Lord appeared to him accompanied by two angels (Genesis 18:1-3), the account of Moses prostrating himself before the Lord in prayer (Deuteronomy 9:25) and the account of the assembly of the Israelites prostrating themselves before the Lord as they blessed Him (2 Chronicles 29:20).
