Why God ignores some prayers

2 Corinthians 12:7-9 “And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. (8) Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. (9) And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

For an illustration of the point that the Lord chooses to ignore certain prayers prayed outside of His will, we can look at the apostle Paul as an example. In the above passage, we see that Paul had prayed to the Lord three times about the same issue. On the first two occasions that Paul prayed, the Lord ignored Paul completely. On the third occasion, the Lord finally explained to Paul just why He was not going to grant his request. In effect, the Lord told Paul that He would not grant him his petition because he was praying outside of the will of God.
