We are to be discerning

2 John 1:9-11 “Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. (10) If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; (11) for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.”

In the passage of scripture quoted above, the Holy Spirit through the apostle John, warns the believer not to invite certain people into their homes, or to even greet them. In context, the people the Holy Spirit is referring to are those who are known to preach false doctrine. The Lord tells us that if we go ahead and invite these people into our homes or even greet them, then we have become partakers in their evil deeds. To share in their deeds, implies that we will incur the same judgment that our Lord has pronounced on these individuals. Therefore, how much more won’t the believer be judged, who then lays hands on people such as these, to try and bless them. We should not be naïve but rather be aware, regarding the people we lay hands on. There are certain churches and ministries however, that make a practice of laying hands indiscriminately on anyone and everyone in their meetings, and nearly all who have hands laid on them display some form of supernatural manifestation. Unfortunately, because this practice is contrary to scripture, the impartation that they receive in these meetings is normally not from the Lord.
