Micah 4:1-5 “ Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the Lord's house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And peoples shall flow to it. (2) Many nations shall come and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths." For out of Zion the law shall go forth, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. (3) He shall judge between many peoples, And rebuke strong nations afar off; They shall beat their swords into ploughshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore. (4) But everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid; for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken. (5) For all people walk each in the name of his god, but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God Forever and ever.”
Although the above passage of scripture deals specifically with the period of the Lord’s millennial reign on this current earth, it is also pertinent with regards to the age to come. For in this passage we see that agriculture will be the order of the day during our Lord’s reign and that emphasis will not change when our Lord reigns from the New Jerusalem. Notice the phrase that “everyone will sit under his vine and under his fig tree”, thus indicating that each child of God and their immediate families will have their own farmlands. This brings us to another point, regarding the lifestyles of the children of God in the new earth. And that is, that no one will work for anyone else. In other words, there will be no master, servant relationships in the earth. For the earlier passage tells us plainly, that they will not build houses for others, and they will not plant for others. In other words, the inheritance given to them by the Lord will remain theirs for all eternity. Don’t misunderstand me, for neighbours will assist each other in the building of their homes and in the planting of their crops, but that will be done solely as an act of kindness and not as a debt owed. This also means that there will be complete equity in the earth, i.e. there will be none that will become wealthy while others become impoverished. All will be content with that which they have received from the Lord, and none will seek to acquire more. In other words, this worlds system of covetousness and the desire for riches will not be present in the new earth. As an aside, with regards to the homes that the children of God will build, unlike the homes of the saints, their homes will be built with bathrooms, toilets and bedrooms. For they will need bathrooms to bathe in after they have laboured in their fields, toilets to dispose of their body wastes and fluids after they have eaten and drunk and bedrooms with beds for them to sleep on so that their bodies can rest. For don’t forget, that their bodies will be similar to the bodies of Adam and Eve.
