The saints will judge – Part 1

Psalms 149:5-9 “Let the saints be joyful in glory; Let them sing aloud on their beds. (6) Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand, (7) To execute vengeance on the nations, And punishments on the peoples; (8) To bind their kings with chains, And their nobles with fetters of iron; (9) To execute on them the written judgment-- This honour have all His saints. Praise the Lord!”

A truth that is not widely understood in the church is that it is the saints that will act as judges on that day, and not God. In the above passage of scripture, the Holy Spirit reveals to us that the Lord has given His church the honour of judging all of God’s enemies on that day.

Luke 11:19 “And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore, they will be your judges.”

In the context of the above passage of scripture, Jesus was dealing with the accusation that the Jews were making, that He was performing miracles by the power of Satan. In dealing with their accusation, Jesus commented on their sons who were being used by God to cast out demons. The sons that Jesus was referring to in this passage were in fact the Lord’s disciples. But it is the comment that our Lord made at the end of this passage that I wanted to highlight. For our Lord clearly told the unbelieving Jews, that they would be judged by the believing Jews, i.e. the church, on that day.
