The role of angels

Psalms 91:11-12 “For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. (12) In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.”

Everyone born into the earth has at least one angel assigned to them by God. Jesus taught us this truth, when He spoke of the angels that watch over children, always seeing the face of our Father in heaven (Matthew 18:10). Once an angel is assigned to a child of God, the assignment remains in place for all eternity. And the only way that their assignment can be nullified, is if those that they are assigned to, reject the salvation of God and are then cast into hell at the end of their lives here on earth. Which is why, as I have already mentioned earlier, the saints will have their angels that are assigned to them, dwelling with them and ministering to them in their residences in the New Jerusalem. So how does this concept impact upon the children of God that will reside in the new earth, and also their offspring that will be born to them? As far as an angel being assigned to each child of God is concerned, nothing will change. Each one of them, will continue to have their angels assigned to them, and for every new child born into the earth, there will be another angel assigned. But what will change in the age to come, is the roles that the angels will perform. In the current age, one of the roles that angels perform is to keep the children of God from evil (Psalm 91:10). In the age to come however, there will be no evil present, and so, angels will no longer be employed in this role. But there is another role that they fulfil, which is revealed to us in the above passage of scripture, i.e. they are there to ensure that the children of God experience no mishaps, not even allowing them to stub their toe. Although this passage actually refers to our Lord Jesus when He walked the earth, each angel of God will have the same mandate in God’s new earth. In other words, no child of God will even stub their toe in God’s new earth, because their angels will prevent that from happening. So how will the angels do that? They will do it in the same manner that they are doing it in the earth today, i.e. they will do it in the unseen realm. In other words, unlike in the New Jerusalem where the saints and the angels of God, will operate in the same realm visibly, in the new earth, the angels will continue to operate in the unseen realm, and so the children of God will not visibly see the angels that are around them to minister to them. A more important aspect of the angels ministry however, is in influencing people to make decisions in line with God’s will (1 Kings 22:20). And with regards to this point, the saints of God, who will at all times know God’s perfect will for all of their subjects, will direct the angels to influence the children of God accordingly. With regards to the reigning of the saints, the angels that minister in a specific geographic location, will in turn report to the angel assigned to minister for the saint who reigns over that geographic location. And in that manner, the saint will rule over both the children of God and the angels of God, in that location.
