The Holy Spirit resides in our spirits all the time. He never leaves and He always knows what the will of the Father is, in every situation that we encounter in life. In fact, He knows every situation we will encounter long before we ever get there, for our Lord Jesus taught us that the Holy Spirit will show us things to come (John 16:13). In other words, if we follow His leading, then He will show us things to come in our lives, in order to prepare us for those events. The Holy Spirit is in constant fellowship with our spirits and there is nothing of the Father’s will regarding our lives, that He withholds from our spirits. And so, consequently our spirits always know what to do, in every area of our lives. So how do we bring the knowledge that is already in our spirits, into the realm of our understanding, so that we can act on it? One of the ways is to speak in other tongues, for in the first scripture quoted earlier, the Holy Spirit has linked very closely, our being led by Him, with His interceding through us with groaning in the spirit. Praying with our spirit and groaning in the spirit are very similar, in that they both emanate from the Spirit.
