Normality of life – Part 1

Luke 22:28-30 “But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials. (29) And I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, (30) that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

Another aspect of life in the new earth, which we can see from the above passage of scripture, is the normality of it. In this passage, our Lord tells the twelve apostles of the Lamb, that in the age to come, that they will eat and drink with Him at His table. And so, we see that there are certain saints, the twelve being among them, that will receive the honour of sharing meals with the Lord Jesus in the age to come. That does not mean that Peter, James, John and the others, will never share meals with other members of the body of Christ. It just means that from time to time, the Lord Jesus will invite them to share a meal with Him. This brings me to my next point. And that is that all families in the earth will do exactly the same thing. They will invite each other over to their homes, to share meals with them and to have fellowship with one another. In fact, all families will celebrate various events together, i.e. weddings, baby dedications, new homes being dedicated, etc. But it will go even further than that, for the saints will also do what Jesus did. For you will recall that on more than one occasion, after our Lord was raised from the dead that He would appear to the disciples and share a meal with them, and talk with them about the things of the kingdom of God, and then at the end of the meal He would return to heaven. In the same manner, in the age to come, the saints will also visit with the children of God that fall within their sphere of reign, and they will share meals with them in their homes and have fellowship with them. They will also attend the various weddings, baby dedications, etc, at the end of which, the saints will then ascend back into the heavenly city, just as Jesus did.
