Luke 4:33-35 “Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, (34) saying, "Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are--the Holy One of God!" (35) But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!" And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him.”
It can also happen that the demon manifests without anyone laying hands on them, purely because the person is in a Christian gathering. That’s exactly what happened in the above account of a meeting that Jesus was conducting, for the demon cried out and interrupted Jesus while He was ministering. Again if we look at the ministry of Jesus as our example, every time this type of manifestation happened in His ministry, Jesus commanded the demon to shut up and He then cast the demon out of the individual. There was a time in my ministry, when quite often people would shout out in anger against what I was teaching, no matter what subject I was teaching on. And so I went to the Lord about the problem, because obviously these manifestations were very disruptive in the meetings. In my ignorance at the time, I assumed that the people that were shouting out were doing so of their own accord, but the Lord showed me that in fact it was a demon manifesting, and He referred me to the above passage of scripture to teach me this truth. He then taught me to first bind the unclean spirits in the meeting before the meeting began and that would then prohibit them from shouting out to disrupt the meetings. Ever since then I have not had that problem again, although I have observed people in the congregation becoming agitated as I minister, but nevertheless not being able to shout out as before so as to disrupt the meeting. During the period when I was experiencing these disruptions, there was an occasion when I was able to speak afterwards to a gentleman that had shouted out in the meeting, because I knew him although not very well. And he stated that he had no idea what made him shout out like that and that it happened without his being able to control it. There are a lot more demons attached to believers than we realise, and it is really only in the presence of the Holy Spirit that they will manifest themselves.
