1 Corinthians 14:32-33 “And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. (33) For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.”
We have already established that laughter in the Spirit is initiated by the Holy Spirit. This point is very important to note, because it helps us to more easily recognize which spirit is responsible for causing people to laugh in certain meetings. There are instances when people will laugh out loud while the minister is preaching the word from the pulpit. This sort of behaviour obviously disrupts the meeting and distracts from the preaching of the word of God. The above passage of scripture clearly states that God is not the author of confusion. The word translated “confusion” can also be translated “disorder”, which is actually a better rendering of this word in this passage. God the Holy Spirit does not violate His own word, and would not come upon members in the congregation causing them to laugh out loud while the minister is preaching the word of God. For that is clearly creating disorder in the meeting and distracting the saints from hearing the word of God. Very clearly on these occasions the source of these disruptions is the work of demonic spirits. Sadly however, there are “ministers” that encourage such behaviour in their meetings because of which, such behaviour occurs quite frequently in their meetings. Those ministers are thus allowing demonic powers to control their meetings. The false prophets do so knowingly, but there are also ministers that are deceived in this area, and allow the unclean spirits to manifest in their meetings in this way, thinking that it is the work of the Holy Spirit. And so believers would be well advised to avoid such ministers and their meetings, because simply being in that environment places the believer at risk of becoming contaminated with the unclean spirits present in those meetings.
