Copy of Differences in the new earth – Part 4

Genesis 3:17-18 “Then to Adam He said, "Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it': "Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. (18) Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field.”

As we can see from the above passage of scripture, part of the curse on the current earth, is that it produces thorns and thistles. And so, as there will be no curse in the new earth that God creates, clearly there will also be no thorns or thistles or anything similar that will grow there. But rather, God will ensure that the new earth will only produce trees and plants that are pleasant to the sight and good for food. In other words, the plant life in the new earth will be just as it was in the old earth, before Adam and Eve ever sinned (Genesis 2:9).

Genesis 8:20-22 “Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar. (21) And the Lord smelled a soothing aroma. Then the Lord said in His heart, "I will never again curse the ground for man's sake, although the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done. (22) "While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.”

As we have already seen, there are a number of differences between the new earth and this current earth, but nevertheless there will also be aspects about this current earth that will remain the same in the new. In the above passage of scripture, God tells us that while the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night will continue. A more accurate translation of verse twenty-two would be, “As yet all the days of the earth” or as the Darby Bible Translation says, “Henceforth, all the days of the earth”, thus indicating to us that this is God’s decree for the earth, for all eternity. And so, the earth that God is referring to in this passage, is both the current earth and the new earth that He will create, thus confirming to us that in the earth to come, that seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, day and night, will remain.
