2 Corinthians 3:17-18 “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (18) But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” Every believer has been predestined by God the Father, to be conformed into the image of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 8:29). It is the Holy Spirit that does that work in us, for the above passage of scripture declares that we are (present tense) being transformed into the image of Jesus by the Spirit of the Lord. It is a progressive transformation that takes place in the believer, for the passage tells us that we are being changed from glory to glory. So how does He do that? It is required of us to work with Him, by continually looking at the glory of the Lord in the mirror of His word and then walk in that which He reveals to us (James 1:23-25), and as we do that He performs the miracle of transforming us into the image of Jesus Christ our Lord. And so, the Holy Spirit begins that work when we are born again, and continues that work throughout our lives here on earth, finally bringing it to completion when we go to be with the Lord.
