Unbelievers understanding – Part 5

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, (4) whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”

Our final witness in this section is the apostle Paul. Again in this passage, we see that those who do not believe the gospel cannot believe, because their minds have been blinded. But the Holy Spirit does give us further insight into the blinding of the minds of the unbelievers, for we see in this passage, that it is in fact Satan as the god of this world, who blinds the minds of the unbelievers. The reason that Satan can do that, is because all unbelievers are under his domain and therefore he is allowed to prevent them from seeing the light of the gospel (1 John 5:19). Therefore, because the unbelievers are not chosen for salvation, God allows Satan to blind their minds to the truth of the gospel message. And so, we have clearly seen in this section that all four witnesses state the same truth, i.e. that the method God uses to predestine the unbelievers from receiving salvation, is that He blinds their minds to the truth of the gospel. And so, even though one were to proclaim the gospel message to them many times over, they would still of their own free will, scoff at it and call it foolishness. Thus God remains just in His predestination of the unbelievers, because they reject His salvation of their own free will.
