Those in hell do not want others to follow

Luke 16:27-28 “Then he said, 'I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house, for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.”

To illustrate the point of how those who have died change their perspective completely once they leave this life, we can look at the above quoted passage of scripture. The context of this passage is that our Lord Jesus related to us an account of a rich man who had died and had gone into hell. The account that our Lord gave us in this passage was not a parable, but rather it was an actual account of what transpired in this man’s life. I want you to notice from this passage just how repentant he was for having rejected the message of the gospel during his lifetime, and his deep concern for the rest of his family that they should not end up where he was. In other words, his viewpoint of life had completely changed once he discovered the truth and realized how deceived he had been in this life, for even though it was too late for him to do anything about his own circumstances he was deeply concerned that his brothers should not make the same mistake that he had made. And so we see that there is not one person who has died and is suffering torment in hell today who does not gnash their teeth and weep, as they realize how they have only themselves to blame for rejecting the opportunities given to them in this life to repent and believe the gospel.
