Those chosen have seen the risen Lord

Acts 10:40-41 “Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly, (41) not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.”

So what evidence do we have as believers, that Christ has been raised from the dead? We have eye witness testimonial accounts to this fact. After Christ was raised from the dead He appeared to those chosen by God to be witnesses to His resurrection. In the above account in scripture when Peter was preaching the gospel to the gentiles for the first time, he shared with them that God had pre-ordained that only certain individuals would see His Son after He was raised from the dead. We know that Peter was one of those chosen by God to see our risen Lord. On the day that Peter preached to the gentiles there were six other disciples with him and Peter stated that those with him had also seen our risen Lord, for he stated that they all ate and drank with the Lord Jesus after He had risen from the dead. We know of two specific accounts in scripture when our Lord ate and drank with the disciples after He was raised from the dead. The first account we have discussed earlier, when our Lord appeared to the disciples in the locked upper room on the first night after He was raised. On that occasion, at His request, they gave our Lord some broiled fish and honeycomb to eat. Jesus did that, so that He could show them that they were not seeing a spirit but indeed our resurrected Lord. The second occasion that we know of in scripture is when our Lord Jesus appeared to the disciples in Galilee and ate breakfast with them. On that occasion, Peter and six other disciples were present (John 21:1-14). And so it may be that the disciples referred to by Peter when he preached to the gentiles, had been present on one of those two occasions. Or it may even be that there was another occasion when they had shared a meal with our risen Lord, for not all accounts of our Lord’s appearing to the disciples have been recorded in scripture.
