The wealth, luxury and sin of this world

1 John 2:15-17 “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (16) For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. (17) And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”

In the above passage of scripture the Holy Spirit through the apostle John, again confirms the truth to us that we as believers are to keep away from the lusts of this world. I want you to notice that in describing the world in this passage of scripture that the Holy Spirit refers to “the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life”. In other words He is referring to the covetousness and sin that is in the world. All the above passages of scripture have confirmed for us that Babylon the great in fact refers to the wealth, luxury and sin that is in the world. And so now that we have identified that Babylon the great is this world’s system, we can more clearly understand the judgement that will be pronounced upon her.
