Hebrews 2:9-10 “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honour, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone. (10) For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.”
In the previous section we discussed how Jesus redeemed us from sin. In this section we want to discuss how Jesus has redeemed us also from death. Scripture reveals to us, that in the same manner as Jesus redeemed us from sin, by taking upon Himself the sin of the world, so it is that Jesus has redeemed us from death, by dying for the whole world. The above passage of scripture confirms that truth to us, for it states that Christ tasted death for everyone. When we discuss how Christ has delivered us from death, we need to bear in mind that when Christ redeemed us from sin that He set us free from sin, i.e. sin no longer has dominion over believers. And so, in the same manner when Christ redeemed us from death, He also set us free from death, i.e. death no longer has dominion over believers.
