Luke 10:10-11 “But whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, (11) ‘The very dust of your city which clings to us we wipe off against you. Nevertheless, know this, that the kingdom of God has come near you.” That same principle is applicable to nations as well. In other words, just as certain cities will not be receptive to the message of the gospel, so there will be certain nations that will not be receptive to the message of the gospel. Nevertheless, those nations will have no excuse on that day, for the kingdom of God has come near to them but they refused to hear the message preached. An example of a nation today that is not receptive to the message of the gospel would be Saudi Arabia. If you study church history, you will find that over the centuries there have also been many nations that have responded positively to the message of the gospel preached. Those nations have seen great revivals in their midst, and during those times of revival multitudes were added to the kingdom of God. However, many of those same nations have since become hardened to the gospel and there is no longer any significant move of God in their midst. Many of those nations have received their last call and will not receive another. Wales is an example of just such a nation. At the start of the twentieth century there was a great revival that swept over that nation, and multitudes were added to the kingdom of God. Many from around the world went to that nation to experience what God was doing there. But instead of building on that foundation, those saints let the work of God die and there is no longer any significant move of God in Wales today. Michael E.B. Maher
