Not all appreciate sound doctrine

You can therefore readily see that any ministry gift that refuses to teach the full counsel of God, and only emphasises one aspect of truth, would be instrumental in making the saints vulnerable to becoming deceived. It is safe to say that any ministry that refuses to declare the full counsel of God should be avoided. The apostle Paul, in his last message to the elders of the church at Ephesus, told them that he was innocent of the blood of all men because he had not neglected to declare the full counsel of God to them (Acts 20:26-27). Among carnal believers, the full counsel of God is not a popular message. Towards the end of his ministry, the apostle Paul was no longer welcome in the churches in Asia, including the church at Ephesus (2 Timothy 1:15). The reason being, that they could no longer endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they had itching ears, they found teachers that catered to their carnal desires; and they turned their ears away from the truth and were turned aside to listen to a false gospel. The apostle John experienced the same thing, in that he and his ministry team were eventually also not welcomed in certain churches (3 John 1:10). Michael E.B. Maher
