Jesus takes on different forms

Revelation 1:12-17 “Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, (13) and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. (14) His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; (15) His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; (16) He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. (17) And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, "Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.”

The above quoted passage of scripture reveals to us what our Lord Jesus looks like when His glory is made manifest through His resurrected body. Clearly, our Lord looks completely different when He manifests His glory. So much so, that the apostle John who laid his head on our Lord’s chest at the last supper, fell before Him as one dead when he saw our Lord Jesus in that form. Our Lord Jesus takes on this form on the occasions when He displays His glory as God Almighty (Revelation 1:8). For example, we see in scripture that our Lord Jesus takes on that same form at His second coming when He leads the armies in heaven back to the earth (Revelation 19:11-16).

Revelation 5:6-7 “And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. (7) Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.”

In the above scriptural account we see our Lord Jesus taking on another form, as the Lamb of God. But in this passage we see that the Lord Jesus is described as a Lamb that is different to all others, for He has seven horns and seven eyes. It is in this form that our Lord stands before God the Father as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. There are numerous places in the book of Revelation where our Lord is referred to as the Lamb, so it is quite possible that our Lord Jesus appears in that form on other occasions as well. I am sure that our Lord takes on other forms as well. For example we have not seen in scripture, just what our Lord looks like when He ministers before God the Father as our High Priest, Melchizedek. We may have some idea when we look at the priestly garments as worn by Aaron the high priest, which are a type and shadow of the heavenly garments worn by Melchizedek, but for now we can only speculate. The point remains however, that in His resurrected body, our Lord Jesus can take on many different forms as and when He chooses.
