Jeremiah 16:14-16 “Therefore behold, the days are coming," says the Lord, "that it shall no more be said, 'The Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,' (15) but, 'The Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands where He had driven them.' For I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers. (16) "Behold, I will send for many fishermen," says the Lord, "and they shall fish them; and afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.” At the turn of the last century, more and more Jews started to return to the land of Israel. As the end of the age draws to a close God will accelerate their return. In the above passage of scripture, the Lord shows us just how relentless He will be in bringing the Jews back into their land. For He says that He, “will send for many fishermen … and they shall fish them; and afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.” And so, although the key event of gathering natural Israel into the land of Israel has begun it is nowhere near completion, for there are still more Jews that live outside of Israel than in Israel. In 1975, there were approximately eleven million Jews living outside of Israel. Today, that number has reduced to eight million. There is coming a time however, when there will be no Jews living outside of Israel. This key event is far advanced and will be completed in the not too distant future. The Lord has said that He would gather all of Israel into their land. And so, for those Jews who choose not to go back to Israel of their own free will, the earth will see a rise in anti-Semitism once again. God will use this to drive the Jews back to their land of promise. Because the clear majority of Jews that live outside of Israel today reside in the United States of America, over the coming years there will be a gradual growth of anti-Semitism in that nation. In the natural, that may seem impossible now, but nevertheless it will happen. According to new data from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), in its annual Audit of Anti-Semitic Incidents, Anti-Semitic incidents in the U.S. surged more than one-third in 2016 and have jumped 86 percent in the first quarter of 2017. The ADL reports that there has been a massive increase in the amount of harassment of American Jews, particularly since November of this year, and a doubling in the amount of anti-Semitic bullying and vandalism at non-denominational K-12 grade schools. Anti-Semitism will continue to rise throughout the world as we draw close to the end of the age, for God will ensure that all Jews are brought back to Israel. Michael E.B. Maher
