Daniel 9:27 “Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, even until the consummation, which is determined, is poured out on the desolate.”
As we have already seen, the scriptures refer to the Anti-Christ as one who is cunning and who understands sinister schemes. Before the event of the Anti-Christ standing in the temple he would have already risen as the leader of the fourth kingdom. As the leader of that kingdom, he will negotiate a peace treaty with Israel and the Muslim nations that surround her. Scripture reveals to us in the book of Daniel quoted above that this covenant or peace treaty will be a seven-year peace treaty. The above scripture informs us that he will break that treaty in the middle of that seven-year period by bringing an end to sacrifice and offering. It is entirely possible that the assassination attempt made on the life of the Anti-Christ will take place on this occasion when the he stands in the temple. You will recall that when this incident takes place that the world will see his supernatural powers being displayed. Nevertheless, this event will take Israel by surprise and will result in the armies of the Anti-Christ invading and conquering Israel as a nation.
