Matthew 18:11-14 “For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost. (12) "What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? (13) And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. (14) Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.”
The second witness quoted above, is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. This passage is very enlightening for us, for in it our Lord Jesus reveals a number of very important truths. If you read the context of this passage, you will see that little children were the main focus of what He was teaching on. For He started out His teaching, by placing a little child in their midst and then explaining that children were already in the kingdom of God, which is why we need to convert and become just like them, i.e. part of the kingdom of God. And so, the lost sheep that Jesus is referring too in this passage, are all who were once part of His kingdom when they were little children, but as adults have since died spiritually and thus become lost to His kingdom. But the main point that I wanted to highlight from this passage, is that Jesus reveals to us that it is not the will of God our Father, that one little child should perish. Very clearly Jesus is teaching us in this passage, that it is the perfect will of God the Father, that all men should be saved.
