God’s foreknowledge – Part 4

Jeremiah 1:4-5 “Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: (5) “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

The second witness quoted above, is God the Father. In this passage, God tells Jeremiah the prophet that before He formed him in the womb, that God already knew him. In other words, God had already searched every part of Jeremiah to find out if there was any iniquity in him. And so, from this passage, we see very clearly, that God knew everything about Jeremiah, long before he was even born. God is not saying in this passage, that He knew Jeremiah’s future before he was born (even though He did), but rather God is clearly saying that He knew everything about Jeremiah, including what was in the inner depths of his heart. And so, based on God’s foreknowledge of Jeremiah, God knew what he would do with the free will given to him by God. Clearly that same principle is applicable to all of God’s creations.
