Deuteronomy 8:18 “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”
The third area that begins to change in our lives when we start believing God to prosper us, is that we start becoming more industrious in the ways we earn money. The above quoted passage of scripture is a promise that God gave to the children of Israel. In that promise God said that He would give the children of Israel power to get wealth. A more accurate translation of that passage would be that God had promised to give them the ability to create wealth. That same promise is available to the sons of God today. You will recall that we looked at the example earlier of the idea that God gave to Jacob as to how to increase his livestock. When believers begin to exercise their faith in securing the riches that Jesus has provided for us, they will begin to find for example, that ideas and opportunities will come their way on how to generate extra income streams.
Isaiah 48:17 “Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.”
God is a God of increase and He delights in the prosperity of His children, for God is not opposed to His children being rich, but He is opposed to His children being covetous. In the scripture quoted above God tells us that it is He who teaches us how to profit. In context, this passage is speaking about both spiritual and financial prosperity. When God says that He leads us in the way we should go He is referring to His teaching us how to profit. And so we see that if we will learn to follow the Lord’s leading in life, that He in fact teaches us just how to become rich. Believers, who exercise their faith in this area, will find for example that God will show them where to get the best deal when they need to purchase something. God will begin to show them a number of different ways in which they can cut back on their expenses and increase their income, thus increasing their overall profit.
John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”
In the above quoted passage of scripture our Lord Jesus said that when the Holy Spirit comes, He will teach us all things. Every born-again believer has the Holy Spirit residing on the inside of them, and He has been sent by the Lord to teach us all things. All things mean all things, and that includes how to profit or to become rich. We have already seen in this teaching that it is the will of the Lord that His children become rich, and so the Holy Spirit has no problem with teaching us just how to do that. But you will recall that our Lord Jesus also taught us that in order for us to receive from God that we must first ask (Luke 11:10). The reason that many believers never learn how to become rich is because they never ask God to show them how to profit. And so we must ask. But we must ask in faith, for our Lord Jesus also taught us that it is whatever we ask in prayer, believing, that we will receive (Matthew 21:22). Once we have asked in faith then we must expect God to begin to show us how to profit in our finances and that is exactly what He will do.
2 Corinthians 9:8-11 “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. (9) As it is written: " He has dispersed abroad, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever." (10) Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, (11) while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.”
And then finally, when we begin to exercise our faith in God’s provision, we will find that God begins to intervene miraculously in our lives by giving us supernatural favour. The above quoted passage of scripture says that God is able to make all grace abound toward us. Part of what that means is that supernatural blessing will be bestowed upon us. For example, unexpected promotions at work will come our way. New job opportunities will be made available to us. New business opportunities will come our way. The list is endless, for with God nothing is too hard and nothing is impossible. My experience in this area is that these blessings come completely “out of the blue” so to speak. When we least expect it then God manifests His grace in our lives and all we can do is give Him thanks for His abundant grace, for He truly is a good God.
