Ezekiel 43:10-11 “Son of man, describe the temple to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and let them measure the pattern. (11) And if they are ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the design of the temple and its arrangement, its exits and its entrances, its entire design and all its ordinances, all its forms and all its laws. Write it down in their sight, so that they may keep its whole design and all its ordinances, and perform them.” In the above quoted passage of scripture, the Lord gave the prophet Ezekiel a detailed vision of the layout of the third Jewish temple and its operation when that temple is eventually built. That account can be read in Ezekiel, chapters forty to forty-six. Currently in the natural, it seems impossible that Israel would ever be able to build the third temple. This is mainly because of the conflict that would erupt in the Middle East between the Muslim nations and modern-day Israel, because the Muslim nations hold the site of the “temple mount” as one of their most holy sites. As we have already seen however, God will bring about the changes required for Israel to be able to go ahead and finally rebuild the third temple. We are already seeing the complete disruptions in the Muslim nations surrounding Israel (it has been called the Arab spring, among other terms) and God has only just begun. When it is all over, circumstances would have changed in the Middle East to the point that Israel will be able to build God’s temple. Obviously once the temple is built, Israel will once again practice temple worship as taught under the old covenant. This will occur because more and more Jews will return to walking in the laws of the old covenant. In this respect it is interesting to note that currently, the orthodox Jews (who strictly adhere to the laws of the old covenant) are the fastest growing segment of the Jewish population in the world today.
