First two trumpets sounded

Revelation 8:7 “The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.”

In this section we want to discuss the sounding of the first trumpet and the corresponding judgement that will be initiated because of that trumpet’s sounding. The above quoted passage of scripture describes hail and fire mingled with blood being thrown to the earth, causing a third of the earth’s trees and all green grass to be burned up. And so we see that God’s opening judgement is that a powerful shower of asteroids will strike the earth. The affect that this asteroid strike will have on the earth, is that one third of the earth’s forests will be destroyed by fire. The largest forest covering the surface of the earth is known as the Taiga, which covers most of northern Russia, Scandinavia and North America. This forested region easily makes up one third of the earth’s trees and vegetation, and so it is very likely that the asteroid strike will take place in this geographic location. Clearly this asteroid strike will ignite fires throughout the Taiga biome and because the asteroid shower will strike the earth simultaneously over such a vast area, mankind will be powerless to stop the fires from spreading rapidly throughout this forested region. Currently, the average duration of forest fires is fifty-two days, nevertheless because of the extent of the fires that will be caused by this asteroid strike, it is not inconceivable that these fires could last well over twice that length of time. Major cities such as Moscow, Toronto, Anchorage and Murmansk along with all other smaller towns and villages located in the Taiga biome will experience tremendous destruction as a result of the meteor strike, some being completely wiped out. The meteor shower will also destroy many of the earth’s satellites, including the various space stations that are in orbit around the earth. This will have the effect of destroying much of the earth’s global communication systems. As an aside, it is important to note that when a satellite is destroyed in space that the fragments are scattered in all directions at extremely high velocity. Those fragments will then strike other satellites, causing them to fragment in all directions at high velocity. This knock on effect, referred to as the Kessler Syndrome, causes more and more satellites to be destroyed. And so we can see that one of the clear outcomes of God’s judgements will be the destruction of various forms of infrastructure on the earth.

Revelation 8:8-9 “Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood.  (9) And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.”

In this section we want to discuss the sounding of the second trumpet and the corresponding judgement that will be initiated because of that trumpet’s sounding. The above quoted passage of scripture describes a great mountain burning with fire being thrown into the sea and a third of the sea becoming blood, a third of the living creatures in the sea dying and a third of the ships being destroyed. And so we see that God’s second judgement will be to strike the earth with a single large asteroid. Clearly this asteroid will be far larger than any previous asteroid strike in the history of the earth, for it will be large enough to destroy one third of all sea creatures and one third of all shipping. The Pacific Ocean accounts for approximately one third of the world’s oceans and so it is highly likely that this asteroid will strike the earth in that geographic location. The devastation caused by this asteroid will destroy all marine life, all shipping and all coastal cities and towns throughout the Pacific region. We know that this asteroid strike will initiate a devastating tsunami because all shipping in the Pacific Ocean will be destroyed. Obviously the loss of life will be enormous because of this asteroid’s impact, for the resulting tsunami will cause huge destruction to the entire Pacific Rim area, i.e. the west coasts of both South and North America, the entire east coast of Asia, as well as the north and east coasts of Australia and New Zealand. This passage describes the sea being turned into blood as a result of this meteor strike. And so we see that it is more than likely that the force of impact of this meteor will be powerful enough to churn up huge volumes of mud from the ocean floor thus changing the ocean’s colour. As an aside, just as with the meteor shower in the first judgement, this asteroid will also destroy many of the earth’s remaining satellites, thus further degrading the earth’s global communication systems. Again we see that one of the clear outcomes of this judgement will be the destruction of nearly all infrastructures in the Pacific region.
