1 Corinthians 15:20 “But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.”
Under the Old Covenant there were seven feasts that the Lord put in place. Each feast pointed to a future event that would be fulfilled in Christ, and four of those feasts have since been fulfilled. The first that has been fulfilled in Christ is the feast of Passover, for Christ is the Passover Lamb of God (1 Corinthians 5:7). The second feast that has been fulfilled in Christ is the feast of Unleavened Bread, for Christ is the Unleavened Bread of which we are all partakers (1 Corinthians 5:8). The third feast that has been fulfilled in Christ is the feast of Pentecost, which was fulfilled when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the church by the Lord Jesus Christ on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4). And the fourth feast that has been fulfilled in Christ is the feast of First fruits, for as the above quoted passage of scripture reveals to us, Christ has become the First fruits of those who have fallen asleep, for Jesus Christ is the first to be raised from the dead. At this moment in time our Lord Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Majesty on High in the heavenly places (Hebrews 1:3), far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come (Ephesians 1:21). God the Father has done this, for it is He who has raised Christ Jesus from the dead.
