1 Corinthians 12:3 “Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.”
1 John 4:1-3 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (2) By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, (3) and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.”
Nevertheless, even though Satan has been subjected to the Lordship of Jesus, he is still the ruler of the kingdom of darkness. He is still the god of this world and he is still the deceiver of the nations, because of which, he will not allow anyone in his kingdom to confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh or that Jesus is Lord. For if Satan’s angels were to confess these truths then he would no longer be able to deceive the nations. Therefore the above quoted passages of scripture reveal to us that when we encounter false prophets or any other person who operates in the supernatural, that there are two clear ways that we can know whether the spirit being manifested through them is a demon or not. The one way is to tell them to confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh and the other way is to tell them to confess that Jesus is Lord. No demon can do that, for even though demons are subject to us in Christ Jesus and must obey us when we cast them out of people, they will never confess those two things. There is coming a day when all of Satan’s kingdom will be judged by the church however, and on that day they will confess both. But for now, this is something that they cannot do.
