2 Kings 23:16 “As Josiah turned, he saw the tombs that were there on the mountain. And he sent and took the bones out of the tombs and burned them on the altar, and defiled it according to the word of the Lord which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.”
Eventually the king, Josiah by name, which God had spoken about, was born in the year 648 BC; a full 274 years after God had spoken His prophetic word. Josiah proved to be a good king that faithfully served the Lord, and made all who were present in Israel diligently serve the Lord God. The context of the above quoted passage refers to Josiah cleansing the land of all the idol worship that had gone on in Israel before his reign. And so, we see in this passage, the actions taken by King Josiah, in fulfilment of the prophetic word spoken hundreds of years before. And so, the reason that God could be so specific about the name and actions of a king that would only be born nearly 300 years later, is because God had predestined Josiah’s life, including when and where he was to be born into the earth.
