Acts 18:8-11 “Then Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his household. And many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized. (9) Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, "Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; (10) for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city." (11) And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.”
The context of the above quoted passage of scripture is that the apostle Paul had begun to preach the gospel in the city of Corinth. But the point that I wanted to highlight from this passage is that the Lord Jesus knew exactly how many people living in that city were called to be His saints, which happened to be many in that city. And so, our Lord encouraged Paul to continue preaching the gospel there, which if you read the rest of the account in the book of Acts, you will see that he did so for almost two years. And so, although we are to proclaim the gospel throughout the world, we are also to be led by the Lord to go where He specifically sends us, for He knows where His people are and we don’t.
