The earlier passage of scripture also reveals to us that he will have supernatural powers given to him by Satan, and he will be able to perform many miracles, which will have the effect of deceiving all but the Lord’s elect. We also see in this passage that the Anti-Christ currently exists, and that he existed even at the time that Paul wrote his epistle. For the apostle tells us that he is currently being restrained, and that he will only be revealed when the one who is restraining him is taken out of the way. And so we see that he will be revealed in the earth only when God ordains that his time has come, for the scripture says “that he may be revealed in his own time”. This passage also tells us plainly that our Lord Jesus will not return to the earth until the Anti-Christ has been revealed in the earth, for the scripture says that “that Day, will not come unless … the man of sin is revealed”. And then finally we see in this passage, that it is our Lord Jesus Christ who will be the one who destroys the Anti-Christ when He returns, for the scripture says that “the Lord will consume (the Anti-Christ) with the breath of His mouth and destroy (the Anti-Christ) with the brightness of His coming”. And so it is also very clear that the Anti-Christ will be present on the earth when our Lord Jesus returns to the earth.
