The word translated “acceptable”, also carries the meaning “permissible”. In other words our Lord Jesus has His permissible will for our lives, and He has His perfect will for our lives.

Hebrews 8:12 “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” Forgiveness goes hand in hand with forgetting. One cannot forgive from the heart, but refuse to forget the offence suffered.
