This book is the second in a series on biblical prophecy, focusing specifically on prophecies about the nation of Israel that have already been fulfilled. Maher traces Israel’s history chronologically, beginning with God’s covenant with Abraham in approximately 2081 BC, granting the Promised Land. He documents Israel’s establishment as a sovereign nation under Joshua, the conquest of Jerusalem under David, and the building of the First Temple by Solomon. The book then details God’s first judgment: the division of the kingdom, the exile of Israel (722 BC) and Judah (609–587 BC), and the destruction of the First Temple. Maher describes the first restoration—the return of Jewish exiles, the rebuilding of the Second Temple, and the reconstruction of Jerusalem under edicts from Persian kings Cyrus, Darius, and Artaxerxes. A major section examines the first coming of the Messiah, including the “Abomination of Desolation” under Antiochus Epiphanes and the precise fulfilment of Daniel’s 70-weeks prophecy, culminating in the crucifixion of Jesus in 31 AD. The book concludes with God’s second judgment (destruction of the Second Temple in 70 AD and final Jewish exile) and the final restoration of Israel’s sovereignty in 1948, marking the beginning of the “latter days.”
